A lot of people get caught up in Adsense adsense adsense… well, truth is, some markets are better for Adsense, and others for affiliate programs, and the only way you’ll know is by testing yourself.
What we do especially when we are entering into a market/niche is to use both… have Adsense sprinkled throughout the page, and promote the affiliate programs using something like http://www.wpaffiliatepro.com to make the management a little easier.
You can do a lot more with affiliate programs, from banners on your site, internal links, relevant links throughout the content and linking by specific keywords, building a list by putting together a free report and doing a series of emails using an autoresponder for that list that follows this series:
Email 1 - content
Email 2 - content
Email 3 - sale/promote
Email 4 - content
Email 5 - content
Email 6 - sale/promote etc.
And promote the affiliate programs you’d like to promote in those, be it the same one over and over again, or different ones (I recommend different ones until you find out which one converts the best, and keep in mind that different people buy different products for different reasons).
You can always search for your own… aside from the major directories:
http://www.linkshare.com
http://www.cj.com
http://www.clickbank.com
http://www.associateprograms.com
http://www.paydotcom
You can go to http://www.google.com and type in:
niche “affiliate program”
The quotation marks are there for a reason too, this will pull up any page that has “affiliate program” on it… fast and useful way for finding affiliate programs
You’ll notice in the content packs that you get each month with http://free.plrpro.com that there is an .xls spreadsheet that lists a bunch of affiliate programs that are related to the niche of the content.
